Love Lagerfeld

The Sundance Channel has become my new favorite arena of learning and inspiration. Amidst all the dull brained, nonsensical overload of shows these days that leave you feeling guilty and dirty after you watch them, it is so refreshing for a channel to have artistic integrity in producing quality, relatable entertainment that leaves you feeling inspired. FYI-The show Man Shops Globe is a must watch series involving art, design, travel, business and ulitmate GLOSS and creativity. New episodes are not currently airing but you can watch them all online.

The channel also features creative documentaries on a variety of genius personalities. I recently recorded Lagerfeld Confidential and was so fascinated with this piece.

Check out this trailer...

This crazy chic first ever documentary invites us into the everyday insanely creative, fabulously buzzing, and effortlessly brilliant life of Karl Lagerfeld. Fashion is actually a rather small portion of how the surreal, poetic visionary spends his time. Watching as he creates magic and listening to him speak about his life and the depth of his thoughts in the romantic French language was the ultimate treat for me. The film left me feeling so inspired that I thought it my duty to share it with you! I hope you watch it and enjoy. You can download Lagerfeld Confidential and almost all of the Sundance Channel features and watch from your computer. So unplug, take your laptop into your cozy nook and be inspired too. See you in Paris!

Wedding of Style

It seems that my social calender is filled to the brim these days with weddings and the events that surround them. I thoroughly enjoy attending so many weddings. What's not to enjoy? Celebrations of love and commitment, getting all dressed up, great decor, a dancefloor, open bar...yes please! What I love most is the different ways that couples use their weddings to express their style and who they are instead of just following the format handed down to us from generations ago.

Halloween of 2009 I was lucky enough to be a part of the wedding of two of my dearest (and most stylish) friends, Mary and Stefan. Wow. Their special day was just that. Truly special. And oh so fabulously chic. These two created an evening that incorporated just the right harmony of elegance, style, warmth, and rock n'roll; an absolute reflection of their personalities. With a unique vision all their own, Mary and Stef honored their love for one another in a setting that couldn't have been more perfect - and dressed to kill. Stef in a gorgeous Prada suit, and Mary in a stunning Audrey Hepburn-meets-Balenciaga Runway wedding dress that she designed herself. Scroll down and be inspired...

Wishing you two a life of love and beauty.

So, I just opened my mail to find a treasure that made me very happy...the Chloe Spring 2010 Lookbook arrived. Special Day! I adore the throwback to the early days of the label and what they are known for; feminine, flowy dresses with bohemian spirit, perfect tailored pieces, with just the right dash of edge. This season's creations have captured that vintage essence that is so hard to reinvent. Snaps to Hannah MacGibbon for swooping in as artistic director and dropping some seriously stunning ready to wear. These soft dreamy whites are the first pieces of my spring inspiration book.

 Happy New Year
